About the Role:

Our fast-growing organization is looking for an experienced and proactive Systems Engineer who can provide leadership and additional support for our technical environment, including our server hardware, operating system software, storage area network (SAN), and unified communications infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will serve as a go-to person for a myriad of technical challenges facing the organization. The successful candidate will also work closely with our Information Security team to ensure appropriate cybersecurity protections are in place.

Desired skills and competencies:

  • Provide installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting support of computer hardware, software (Windows and Linux), desktop applications, unified communications systems, networks, printers, and computer peripherals for on-site and remote users

  • Provide timely feedback and resolution to end users on their IT service requests/IT problem tickets

  • Partner with senior level staff to determine technology strategy

  • Plan, present, and apply complex technology solutions to solve critical business requirements

  • Ensure security of network and systems

  • Maintain how-to guides on the internal Wiki to allow employees to own common workflows and solve basic issues

  • Participate in special projects as required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience maintaining, administrating and supporting computer hardware and operating systems software such as Windows, HP-UNIX, LINUX, VMware, ESX, and Active Directory

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support technical issues both remotely and on-site using standard tools and techniques

  • Knowledge of networking protocols

  • Significant hands-on experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy)

  • Significant hands-on experience with Operating Systems (Windows and others)

  • Significant hands-on experience administering Active Directory

  • Significant hands-on experience providing unified communications support

  • Strong understanding of ITIL/ITOM processes and current industry trends

  • Willingness to travel (as-needed)

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

  • Ability to move and lift up to 25 lbs. of equipment

  • Strong communications skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline (preferred); a minimum of Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience

  • Desired Certifications: ITILv3, Network+, MCP; Minimum Certification: CompTIA A+
