Junior Business Analyst

Location: New York

We’re looking for a tech-savvy and self-motivated Junior Business Analyst to join our New York office.


As a leading provider of regulatory intelligence solutions for top investment managers, we build quality software for demanding users.

 

Our business analysts work through challenging data-driven problems to ensure the operational efficacy of our products. This is not a typical requirement gathering/functional spec writing job, however; instead, our analysts collect and analyze financial and regulatory documentation, and then use a range of internal tools to create groundwork for the development of targeted software components.

 

While the role is not client-facing, our business analysts are asked to follow regulatory news that affects our customers and to propose updates to the application.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collect, organize, and analyze regulatory information

  • Follow established procedures to convert regulatory information into logical pieces required for integration to our application

  • Evaluate data collected through task analysis, review of business and legal documentation, and review of business processes

  • Document the results of all analysis, and transform this information into tech-consumable form using internal and external tools

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach by proposing creative solutions to enhance software 

  • Partner with Development, QA, Best Practices, and Data & Analytics teams to ensure new features meet requirements  

  • Partner with QA team to design test cases and to complete internal UAT  

  • Partner with technical writer to create documentation related to new features and calculations


The ideal candidate will have: 

  • 0-3 years of professional experience

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Rigorous insistence on detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving

  • Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information

  • Facility with complicated documentation (legal experience a plus)

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to juggle several projects at the same time 

  • Capability to own a task and ability to find solutions through collaboration

  • Knowledge of financial products and markets

  • Familiarity with financial regulations is a plus

  • Knowledge of SQL is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related
