About the role:

  • The Best Practices team is made up of regulatory lawyers, fund accountants, and data & analytics experts. The team is responsible for researching and analyzing financial regulations around the world and working with software developers to translate rules into code.

  • The team also supports clients as they interpret reporting requirements, and acts as thought leaders with regard to the changing regulatory landscape in the financial services industry.

  • You will be responsible for analyzing regulations and distilling reporting requirements into rules that are easily understood by your colleagues who are not legal or compliance experts. You will also be responsible for informing the team of any changes to guidance from the regulators, as well as interpretations taken by the industry and filers.

  • In this role you will be the subject matter expert on particular rules and regulations, as well as on certain industry groups (for example, the structure and operating models of AIFMs and UCITs firms).

  • This is an interesting role where you get to mix law, finance, and technology. And you get to say that you work in FinTech and RegTech!


  • Be the subject matter expert:  First, you monitor regulatory change and analyze and interpret rules. Then, with this knowledge you (1) engage with regulators, industry experts, and customers to have a thorough understanding of the rule; (2) work with software developers to build or update software features; (3) educate clients and answer their interpretation questions; (4) prepare summary guides or thought leadership with regard to the rule.

  • Act as a source of knowledge for all departments in the company, including colleagues in other jurisdictions.

  • Assist the client services and support teams during regulatory filings, researching and answering client questions about the rules and filing requirements.

  • Assist sales team in software demos, acting as the subject matter expert on the regulation


Skills and Competencies (the ideal candidate will have)


  • Fluent English speaker and writer

  • Experience in a regulatory/legal or compliance analyst role in the financial services industry or serving the financial services industry (e.g., at a law firm, serving asset managers such as hedge funds, private equity firms, or UCITS firms)

  • Analytical problem-solving skills

  • A focus on detail like it is a competitive sport

  • Ability to simplify the complex (you can explain a rule without using legalese and without pontificating or equivocating)

  • Presentation/social (we can put you in front of a regulator or the head of a large financial firm)


  • Law degree

  • Knowledge of financial instruments and financial products

  • Foreign language (preferably French, Spanish, or German)

  • Knowledge of reporting requirements affecting asset managers (e.g., AIFMD, MiFID II, EMIR, EU SSR, Solvency II, PRIIPs, CRS/FATCA)

  • Tech-savvy
